PRESS RELEASE APRIL 2008 Wagga Wagga’s 2AAAFM has achieved the almost impossible by being one of only a handful of community radio stations in Australia to increase its listening audience in a strongly competitive radio market. In a recent survey conducted on behalf of the station by Sydney based McNair Ingenuity Research the station has increased its audience share by a further 9% based on a previous survey. The results show 36% of a weekly cumulative radio audience aged 30+ in Wagga Wagga listen to 2AAAFM an average of 3.2 hours weekdays. Weekly figures show people aged in the 30+ age group listen to an average of 19.6 hours. Monthly figures put 2AAAFM’s listening audience at 44%. Chairman of 2AAAFM, Jean Haste said, “the results clearly show that the station’s community philosophy and strong music format have achieved strong listener support. Exceptional hard work by all the volunteers at the station has contributed to this successful result.” McNair Ingenuity’s Leanne Smith commented that “2AAAFM in Wagga is a particularly popular station, one of the strongest community radio stations in Australia with over a third of Wagga residents aged 30+ listening in an average week. In an unprompted question nearly a quarter of all people surveyed mentioned that they regularly listened to 2AAAFM. We were also impressed with the time spent listening figure. These are very committed listeners – not just listening for half an hour in the morning on the way to work.” If you run a business you cannot ignore this:
